One side opens upward and has a clear plexiglass panel beneath it, for monitoring nesting behaviors. The opposite side also opens for maintenance. Gaps in each corner of the generous base provide drainage, while the sloping roof directs rain away from the entry. A metal hanger and pilot hole on the back of the shelter encourages mounting to a wall, fence, or tree. The 0.75" thick pine construction remains robust for many seasons of use.
