Conservation Sparrow-Resistant Eastern Bluebird House Package w/Pole Kit - Begin a bluebird-specific trail in your field with this Conservation Sparrow-Resistant Eastern Bluebird Houses with Poles Package. This set of 3 homes and 3 poles helps you establish suitable housing for bluebirds, while deterring sparrows from nesting. Based on research by the University of Kentucky, the Conservation Sparrow-Resistant Bluebird Houses each have a slot style entry and wooden block to shorten the nesting cavity. These studies found that bluebirds will readily use a slotted entry and relatively shallow cavity, while sparrows would avoid homes with this design. As such, each nest box sports a 4" long and 1.25" high, rectangular entry gap, and includes a 1.5" thick, wooden block that can rest in the base. The sloped and overhanging roof protects the nests from rain, and ventilation gaps in the top corners prevent nestlings from overheating. This is bolstered by the 0.75" thick, pine construction of each shelter, which provides durability while enhancing your garden. Attach the adapters included with the Deluxe Birding Poles to the homes to place them at a suitable height for bluebirds. A 12" long ground sleeve helps anchor these poles in your soil, and the tubular steel construction of these supports ensures durability. A black powder coating on each pole further protects it from the elements, and the removable adapter may be placed on either the base or back of each home for versatility.
