The PMCA Excluder Ultimate Gourd is the only purple martin gourd on the market to include grooved porches on exterior and interior for traction. It is also the only martin gourd that comes with our exclusive starling-resistant entrances. The PMCA Excluder Ultimate Gourd is the thickest gourd on the market that helps keep birds cool in the summer and warm during cold spells.
The PMCA Excluder Ultimate Purple Martin Gourd is available in 4 entrance hole styles: Standard Round entrance, and three starling-resistant entrances including Crescent, Modified Excluder, and Excluder II. Select entrance hole style at checkout.
Features include: Ribbed canopy that helps protect the entrance from rain. Screw-on access cap for easy nest checks, nest replacements and cleaning. Fill-line on the outside of each gourd for adding nesting materials. Six drainage holes are standard in each gourd and two 5/16" hanging holes. Stainless mounting porch hardware is included with each gourd.
The two center line hole punches on the gourd recommends 5/8 inch distance from the porch to the bottom of the entrance hole, however the porches may be attached at different levels at the landlord's discretion. External owl and hawk guards may be purchased as an accessory item. All excluder entrances work well for discouraging the European Starling. Since the original Excluder was introduced, it has been sold only as an accessory item on doors for purple martin housing. The New Excluder Gourd is the first manufactured product to offer per-punched excluder entrances.
